How AIFolio’s AI Recruiter Chat Works
Learn how the AI chat on an AIFolio professional profile or portfolio answers recruiter questions from the career information you approve.
AIFolio’s AI recruiter chat is a public assistant attached to your professional profile. It answers questions using the experience, skills, projects, and other career information you chose to publish; it is not a general-purpose chatbot speaking for you about unrelated topics.
What the chat is for
A resume and portfolio are necessarily selective. A recruiter may still want to know whether you have used a particular technology, led a team, worked in an industry, or contributed to a relevant project. The chat helps them find that information without scanning every section or waiting for an email response.
It does not replace the page. Your headline, experience, skills, and project evidence should remain clear enough for visitors who never open the chat.
Where the answers come from
The assistant is grounded in the professional information available on your AIFolio profile. Better source content produces better answers:
- Use complete job and project descriptions.
- Explain your own contribution rather than only the team’s work.
- Add relevant skills in context.
- Keep dates, availability, and links current.
- Remove claims you cannot verify.
If a detail is not present in the approved profile, visitors should not rely on the assistant to invent it.
Which AI provider should you choose?
AI Folio Free uses AIFolio’s platform-managed AI and needs no API key. It is the simplest choice for most profiles. You can instead select OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude, enter a compatible model name, and use your own provider API key. Provider charges and limits then belong to that provider account.
Your API key is encrypted before storage and is not shown on the public page. After changing provider or model, save the profile and test several real recruiter questions. If a model name is unavailable or the provider rejects the key, correct those settings before sharing the page.
How to test your AI portfolio
After editing the page, try questions that reflect a real hiring conversation:
- What is this candidate’s most relevant experience for a product role?
- Which projects demonstrate leadership or ownership?
- What technologies has this candidate used professionally?
- What measurable outcomes are described in the profile?
- How can I contact this candidate?
Check every answer against your public page. When an answer lacks useful detail, improve the source section. This keeps both the page and the AI response accurate.
What visitors can see
The chat is designed for information you intentionally publish. Treat a public AIFolio page like any other public portfolio or personal website: do not include private addresses, identification numbers, confidential client details, internal company data, or anything you would not want indexed or shared.
Profile visibility controls determine whether the page can be discovered. Public pages may be indexed, unlisted pages are intended for people with the direct link, and private pages are limited to the owner.
Why this differs from a static portfolio
A static online portfolio presents the same path to every visitor. AIFolio keeps that readable presentation but adds a question-and-answer layer. A hiring manager can focus on technical depth, while a recruiter can ask about role fit or availability.
That is why AIFolio describes the result as an AI-powered professional profile rather than only a portfolio template. It presents your work and helps visitors explore it.
